My Story

I’m thrilled to share a bit of my personal journey with you in the hopes that it may inspire and offer some encouragement as you embark on your own path towards healing and nurturing a healthier nervous system.

My professional journey began as a Registered Nurse back in the 1980s. Early on, I found myself counselling at a Women’s Clinic, then transitioned into providing home care nursing for individuals and families recovering from post-traumatic injuries. Subsequently, I spent nine years working in inpatient psychiatric care, where I supported individuals dealing with chronic mental illness, addiction, eating disorders, and head injuries.

However, amidst my professional endeavours, I found myself grappling with chronic pain, overwhelming anxiety, depression, and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress. A pivotal moment occurred when I experienced a workplace assault, which served as one of many “tipping points” for my nervous system. Following this incident, I took a break from healthcare for several years. Unfortunately, the accumulation of traumatic injuries, stressful environments, and multiple car accidents further exacerbated my symptoms, sending me into a downward spiral.

While traditional and alternative medicine offered some relief, they didn’t address the root cause of my issues. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon Dr. Peter Levine’s book, “Waking the Tiger,” that everything clicked.
The concept of how the body holds trauma resonated deeply with me, and I knew I had found the missing piece in my healing journey. Through my own exploration and training in counselling, Somatic Experiencing, (SEP) and Somatic Practice, I delved into understanding the nervous system and trauma from a new perspective.

As my own nervous system began to settle, my symptoms gradually dissipated. This transformative experience fueled my passion to share this knowledge and support others on their journey towards resilience and healing. Drawing on my background in nursing, I approach therapy with a deep understanding of how somatic-based methods can facilitate the body’s innate capacity for safety and resilience.

I am genuinely passionate about guiding individuals towards their path to recovery. Your body truly holds what it needs to make a recovery…sometimes it just needs a little external support. In my clinical practice, I prioritize compassion and respect for each person’s inner wisdom, recognizing that the body holds the key to its own healing—it sometimes just needs a little external support to thrive.

Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to supporting you on your healing journey.
